"Memories & Dreams" — our new documentary film

We are pleased to announce the debut of our studio's documentary film "Memories & Dreams" commissioned by the Glendale (CA) Association of Realtors'® for the organization's 100th anniversary.

The 20-minute film premiered Oct. 21, 2021, at Association's Gala at Chevy Chase Country Club.

Stream "Memories & Dreams" anytime via our YouTube channel.

Creative duo Vic Pallos and Emilie Pallos collaborated on the project, which also included a commemorative book, on a 10-week production schedule. Vic wrote and directed the film, and Jonathan Davian Engle did brilliant and creative cinematography and editing. Emilie was art director and designed the opening title sequence. Actor KC Dalbey added stylish narration for the film, and Tom Ferguson did photo post-production. Research assistance provided by Anne Mar, Librarian, Glendale History Room, Library, Arts & Culture and historian Katherine Yamada.

“Memories & Dreams” traces Glendale real estate from 1906 to the present via vintage photos and new interviews, set to the music of Antonin Dvorak and Scott Joplin.

Tennis, anyone? Classic design for L.A. tennis retail store

Summer 2021 — Ad campaign design and branded items for The Racket Doctor, L.A.’s tennis specialty store

London Calling

Wimbledon 2021-themed ad campaign sent via e-mail marketing to 8,600 names had an impressive 22.5% open rate this week, one of our highest scores for this list! The store maintains an engaged database of athletes passionate about tennis, and is a popular destination for players in Southern California and beyond.

We also posted the London Calling campaign artwork via Instagram and The Racket Doctor website (which our studio also designed and maintains). Wimbledon was cancelled in 2020 for the first time since WWII, so the 2021 Championships are making an even bigger splash this year.

BRANDED ITEMS

Staff badges & custom lanyards

Racquet Doctor team members are now wearing new custom credential-style badges and lanyards our studio designed. This makes it easy for customers to spot the RD team on the sales floor.

The lanyards are available in store for customer purchase. Dress up your keyring with this stylish tennis-themed fabric lanyard!

We also designed a custom “RD” monogram stencil for the store’s demo racquet program. "RD" is painted on the strings using this Mylar template, so racquets will find their way back to the store and also add name recognition out on the courts.

Designing for a "Madman"

Sunshine. Sand. And murder.

A promising minor league baseball player is bludgeoned to death on a pristine Florida beach. One person witnessed the attack, but was stunned into silence. Only a majestic great blue heron knows the truth...

We love a good mystery. So when author Floyd Jay Winters asked us to design a "slightly scary" cover for the audiobook version his “The Coquina Madman and the Sands of Time," we were excited!

We cued up the 45-minute story narrated by our friend, actor KC Dalbey, and began to design. First we selected an abstract and shadowy sand image, then added typography, deciding on a blood-red, rough-hewn look. Strong color and minimal design is key, especially for viewing on mobile devices. Floyd approved the design, then submitted to the publisher. Now it's time to sell some copies.
